WHAT I LEARNED

WHAT I LEARNED FROM THIS CLASS

One of the things that I learned in this class about myself was that I need to try very hard to get engaged in group activities where I could have just sat back and offered up an idea and considered it participating. I also learned that once you get comfortable around someone they will lighten up and then you can have a functioning team because the members are comfortable with each other. One of my biggest takeaways about leadership is that there is many many styles of leadership and every single one works for somebody but maybe not another person. I learned that my ability to lead is present in me or whatever but I need to just get comfortable with becoming a leader in front of a group of people.

One of my biggest challenges with this class was working in a group of 10 where everyone in the group doesn't understand that for the group to be able to be productive everyone needs to be involved and cant be having side conversations while we are trying to solve issues or figure out how or why to do something. One of the biggest successes that I had in this class was earning $8,700 for my team with followers alone.

In my opinion, the difference between a great leader and a normal person is personality. If a person is outgoing and down to do anything then they will make a great leader because if you are willing to be a model to others then you can be a great leader.

The leadership traits I noticed most in this project was expert power referent power. Referent power occurred the most when you didn't really know what to do and if someone that has had a great idea before or knew what to do in the situation we just relied on them to be correct instead of challenging their opinion. Then the next quality I saw the most was expert power, and it basically showed up for the same reasons as to why referent power showed up the most, but these showed up because people weren't comfortable with each other yet.

Overall my main takeaways from this class were all of the leadership qualities and how they could affect a certain situation, all the aspects of grit (listed on Challenge the process    page)      in a yellow box) and more things about myself that I never really knew, like I am a decent leader if I am comfortable with talking and leading my followers.
