OVERVIEW

 

     Model the way is a form of leadership where you lead by example, so you show someone how to do something when trying to explain it to them. Modeling the way is an important strategy in leadership because it shows that the leader is passionate about the topic and knows what he or she is talking about and not just guessing on everything. This will help the followers feel like they are important because the person isn't just telling them to do something they are taking the time to show them. If your ethical beliefs are not what you try and promote with your followers then they won't usually trust you anymore, so having positive ethical beliefs and actually follow those ethics then those followers will keep trust in you. 

DEMONSTRATION

 

     One way that I have modeled the way in this class is we had an activity with a grid of paper bags and only one path through those bags was correct if you misstepped you had to go to the end of the line of your team and then the next person had a chance. Then during the project, I talked in front of multiple teachers attempting to inspire a shared vision on how to start off class correctly and I demonstrated to them how this goal would be accomplished. 

REFLECTION

 

     My attempts went both ways, some influenced other people but other times it didn't at all, for example, all the people who said "no thank you" I didn't influence in a positive way and lead them to not follow my movement. And the people who I positively influenced during the project followed me, but in class maybe it was succeeding at an activity that I helped them with by modeling it to them. I can use model the way in my daily life every day that I'm helping someone out by showing them how to do something and then having them do it for themselves, because if you just do something for someone then they learned nothing except that you'll just do it for the next time that situation occurs.
