ENABLE OTHERS TO ACT
OVERVIEW
Enabling others to act is basically when you believe you know a team member's strengths so you give them the opportunity to take action with their specific skills. The 5 sources of power that have the possibility to exist in a leader are...

In my opinion, the best combination of the 5 sources of power is Expert power and Referent power when you're trying to enable others to act because when trying to drop responsibilities off to others you need to be able to know what you're dealing with and what skills will help the situation the best (Expert power). Also, you need to be respected so that your followers won't differ from the end goal when you're enabling them to act. Psychological safety is a very important part of a functioning team. This plays into enabling others to act because if they feel safe in the team then if they cant handle the responsibility you gave them then they can be comfortable talking about it to you or the team and talking about a change.
DEMONSTRATION
In class, we had an option to earn money based on which game we played, so if you were good at the coffee shop game you would play that one and try and earn as much money as possible with that, and if you were good at hotel management then we assigned you to that game basically. And what I'm realizing now is that a way better way we could have gone about doing that activity was we could just have the people with skills in one game have 2 computers to maximize profits. I think that I participated in the group in a positive way but I think voicing my ideas is probably a category that I could have done a better job in.
REFLECTION
I think we enabled others to act during the project by making one of our members that has a connection to the middle school ask those teachers and for them to try and get followers in their class. And since my mom works at Paul Norton I talked to her about it and she got 29 followers from her school, I enabled to act by asking her to use her communication skills and links with other teachers to expand the movement.
